Enjoy these photos of Mariposa Kids in action last month!

The Kids really enjoyed Fun Friday Decorate Yourself Day.
Baseball was really popular in September, but sadly my phone didn't capture any good action shots. Sorry!

Some Precita Fun and maybe a look at a future teacher.

Jack was the only student to come to our first "Science Wednesday" where we explored different leaves.

Ethan leading an indoor game.

Kindergarteners getting busy!

Eva's Science Wednesday was much more popular!  Above she explores flowers and experiments with color to show how plants drink.

"Skateboarding doesn't always involve skateboarding."  Here some students help paint the newest obstacle to our park.
Already this year we have had a handful of students learn to drop-in for their first time!  Here Simran shows us how it's done.

The young skaters are enjoying our obstacles, but we hope to have some new additions soon.

Steep drop-in by Charlie!

Playground fun!

Daily Activities Have Begun

Hi Mariposa Families!
By now, most of our special daily activities have begun.  In addition to outside and inside play, skateboarding, art and homework time offered daily, each day also includes a special activity.  Monday is Kid's Council, Tuesday is Movement, Wednesday is Gardening/Science, Thursday is Cooking and Fridays are "Fun Fridays."  Check out some photos of the daily activities below.

The above photos are from our first cooking day led by parent, Jeremy Moran.  He comes to cook with the kids on the last Thursday of each month.  If you or a family friend may be interested in leading a cooking project one Thursday, please let us know so that we can make it happen.
Snack/quiet time; big, little, big, little...
Amelia has also been visiting with her baby, Daisy!

Above our the photos from our first Movement Class.  It was awesome and Paola and Eva kept the students laughing and engaged for a long time.  I hope to see some boys join in in the future.

After Movement many of the dancers got their creative juices flowing and got busy with a variety of mediums.

We are still looking to hire a garden teacher, so please let us know if you may have a friend that may be a good fit.  We would also be very grateful to accept donations of planter boxers, a worm bin, garden tools, and soil (once we get boxes).

Thanks for reading and staying informed!  Also a reminder that we are having a fundraising event a week from today at Dalva Lounge on Valencia Street.  We hope to see you there!

Into the Swing of Things

Here we are entering the month of September and easing into the daily Mariposa Routines!

Aaron adds to the playground fun with a costume and an impromptu game show.

Math can be fun, but don't let them know!  Here students play their own version of Blackjack.
Student made sign for our upcoming fundraiser on September 17th.
Reading during snack is a popular activity.  Some students read to themselves, some get read to in a group.

Here students enjoy the first "Fun Friday" of the school year with Paola's homemade bubble solution!
Thanks for checking the blog and staying informed!  The secret word this post is "swing."  Be sure to let your children know so that they can earn a prize.
